About Barry
Barry is a builder, entrepreneur, businessman, author, and father. Over the past 40 years he has built and financed real-world projects that have created thousands of jobs and added tremendous value to the lives of millions and to our national economy. His work has helped fund a broad range of industries from aerospace and defense, construction materials, food and beverage, to entertainment, energy, and large-scale industrial construction.
He is the founder and former CEO and Chairman of Green Plains Renewable Energy (now Green Plains, Inc.) GPRE:NASDAQ ~ one of the world’s largest ethanol producers. The ethanol produced by the company is used to oxygenate gasoline ~ making the air we breathe cleaner while lowering the cost of gasoline in both the United States and Canada. This is the exact opposite of what the current Administration is doing. It is destroying our clean air and water regulations and causing the price of oil and everything else to rise worldwide.
Barry was born in 1954 in Tooele, Utah, a small town west of Salt Lake City, the second child of four. His mother was a beautiful, young, Mormon girl. His father, a tall, handsome, extremely bright Okie from Fairfax, Oklahoma, who worked as a computer programmer at Tooele Army Depot. However, his father also sadly struggled with severe alcoholism for most of his life… and when he drank he would often become extremely violent towards both Barry and his mother. His parents divorced when Barry was 12.
Growing up Barry was an avid skier and loved music. He played drums in bands as a teenager. He was his 7th grade class President, and Student Body President the next year. And Barry likes to work. He sees work as a blessing, away to serve others, a way people can find purpose and meaning in their lives. His first job was delivering milk at the age of 9. At 11, he began galloping racehorses, and absolutely loved it. Men were paying him to do something he would have done for free. By the age of 16, he had become one of the most successful jockeys in both Nevada and Idaho, where parimutuel betting was legal, winning many of the most prestigious races with the largest purses in both states. However, his riding career came to an abrupt end when he grew 6.5 inches in one year. Not being able to ride races anymore was a difficult time for him, because he loved riding horses, and he was very good at it. It was exciting, and it paid well, but life had different plans for Barry.
After graduating from High School in 1972, he spent the summer in Europe where he lived with four different families in four different countries. He discovered that summer that the world is filled with wonderful people who are warm, loving, and kind. The following year, he went on a mission for the Mormon Church to Mexico City, where he absolutely fell in love with the Mexican people. He was amazed at their kindness and generosity. He loved their food, their music, and their language. He had no idea there was a language on the planet as beautiful, as lyrical and poetic as Spanish. And he loved the work of saving souls. Helping people out of the holes they had unknowingly dug for themselves. Assisting them in overcoming problems they were facing in their lives and introducing them to the healing that can come from being in a community of like-minded individuals trying to find deeper meaning to their lives. It was in Mexico, where Barry discovered that the true joy in life is being of service to others.
Upon returning from Mexico, he attended BYU, graduating in 1977 with a BA in Communications and for a while attended Law School in California, but quickly discovered that was not something he wanted to pursue as a career.
Salt Lake City at that time was known as the Penny Stock Capital of the World and the Penny market was very active. There was a Regional Stock Exchange in Salt Lake that during the Roaring Twenties and the Uranium Boom of the 1950s often traded more shares than the New York Exchange, so there were some of the best stock minds in the world in Utah. Back in Utah, Barry discovered he was extremely interested in the capital markets ~ in business and capital formation. He soon found himself working as a stockbroker at Dean Witter. The City was filled with stock promoters who seemed to magically be able to make stocks go from a penny to $1 a share, or $10, or $20, and even higher. Barry often wondered how they did that. He was curious and paid close attention and asked lots of questions. It didn’t take long for him to figure out how they did it. And it wasn’t magic. It was manipulation and hype. The same kind Elon Musk used to do the IPO of SpaceX, a company losing billions, yet one able to do the largest IPO in history with fantastical stories about colonizing Mars, while he is doing everything he can to destroy earth’s environment building data centers. The same type of manipulation used on Wall Street in the 1920s that caused the Crash of 1929 and the Great Depression. The same kind that caused the Housing Crash in 2008 and 2009. The same kind that has made our current housing markets unaffordable for millions along with everything else.
Barry understands completely what Wall Street does and how they do it. He learned how Wall Street manipulates financial markets as a young man. They cannot tell their lies to him because he knows what they are and that almost EVERYTHING WALL STREET DOES IS A SCAM. If you will support Barry’s efforts to become President, Barry promises you he will do everything he can to turn America around and reverse the damage these greedy billionaires who are currently trying to overthrow the government have caused. He will get them out of our government and reclaim the America we all love and want back to pass on to future generations. But he will need your help to do that.
Barry does NOT trust anyone currently in Washington, other than Bernie Sanders, and Bernie said he was not going to run again because he is too old. Barry knows without a doubt he could do a better job than any of our current elected political leaders. If you want a President who thinks telling the truth is important ~ who has the skill set and the moral integrity ~ who values people more than money ~ this is your chance to have such a person. And if we don’t get this right this time, our kids and grandkids could be living in a totalitarian dictatorship without having any of the rights guaranteed by the Constitution.
